BURLINGTON, NJ – Rajesh Mohan has secured the Republican nomination in the primary race for New Jersey’s 3rd District House seat. He will face Democrat Assemblyman Herb Conaway in the November election to fill the seat currently held by Andy Kim, who has won the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate.

Mohan, whose previous political experience is a run as an independent for the Holmdel Township Committee in 2022, defeated immigration consultant Shirley Maia-Cusick and two others.

Mohan’s campaign focuses on stronger border protection, ensuring the longevity of Medicare and Social Security, investing in domestic manufacturing and small business growth, increasing investments in mental health care, and reducing out-of-pocket medical costs by reforming the Affordable Care Act.

The 3rd District has been held by Democrats since Andy Kim ousted Republican Rep. Tom MacArthur in 2018. Despite this, the New Jersey Monitor notes that the district remains competitive.

Mohan and his wife, Nandini, have been married for 33 years and have two sons; one is an engineer and the other a lawyer.
