NEW DELHI – India stands out as the most challenging country to emigrate to, according to a recent study. Topping the list of the difficulties in obtaining an employment visa, the study conducted by expat insurance provider William Russell analyzed various factors, including expat population, visa data, required vaccines, and language requirements.

The study highlighted India’s low expat population percentage of 0.4%, indicating a limited number of people born outside the country. Visa-related challenges, including significant fees, contribute to the difficulty. India requires at least three vaccinations for emigrants, including routine ones like measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), hepatitis A, tetanus, and typhoid. Some travelers may also need vaccinations for cholera, hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, rabies, and tuberculosis.

In terms of processing time for visa applications, India stands out with a relatively quick turnaround of approximately 10 to 15 working days. The study emphasized the contrast with Canada, which has the lengthiest processing time of 10 to 11 months, and other countries like Australia (four to eight months) and Finland (90 days).

The findings underscore the unique challenges faced by those looking to emigrate to India, ranging from visa complexities to health-related requirements, making the process notably more demanding compared to other nations.
